Nationalising the Crusades: Engaging the Crusades, Vol. 8

3/4/2023

The latest volume of the series takes a look at how memories of the crusades are - and have been - nationalised. Thinking with national lenses has produced perceptions of the crusades aligned to national histories and this volume examines some of the ways in which that has occurred beyond Britain and France which are well served elsewhere.
More than that, however, this volume seeks to highlight how nationalised perspectives limit views of the crusades, offering ways of thinking about crusader medievalism which move beyond nationalised histories.
